Teleconsultation Terms & Consent
Informed patient consent and guidelines for remote doctor consultations on PilMate.
Please read this information before you proceed. Ask the doctor or PilMate team if you would like any part explained in a language you understand.
1. What the consultation involves
I understand that a registered medical practitioner will provide a consultation remotely through PilMate using live video and/or audio. The doctor may ask questions, review information or records I share, and provide advice or a prescription when clinically appropriate.
2. Limits of audio and video
I understand that an audio/video consultation is not the same as an in-person examination. The doctor may not be able to examine me by touch, listen to my chest, or perform tests through the call. Poor internet, sound, lighting, camera angle, or interruptions may also affect the assessment. A diagnosis or treatment recommendation may therefore be limited or uncertain.
3. If remote assessment is not enough
I understand that the doctor may ask for more information, recommend tests, arrange another consultation, or advise an in-person examination or urgent/emergency care. The doctor may stop or defer the teleconsultation if remote assessment is not safe or adequate. I will seek emergency care promptly for severe or rapidly worsening symptoms and will not wait for a PilMate call.
4. My role and choice
I agree to share accurate information about my symptoms, medicines, allergies, medical history, and location when asked. I can ask questions, decline to answer, or withdraw my consent and end the consultation at any time. If I withdraw or the call fails, I understand that the doctor may be unable to complete the assessment.
5. Privacy and records
I understand that the information I provide, including relevant health details and records shared during the consultation, will be handled in accordance with PilMate’s applicable privacy notice and used for providing, documenting, and managing my care. I will join from a reasonably private place where possible. This consent does not by itself authorise recording of the consultation; separate notice and consent will be sought if recording is proposed.
